My Goals for 2021

Hi again!

It took me some time to work our what my first ‘real’ post should be, and whilst I’m starting to put together some series ideas, it still seemed rushed to jump right into one of them. As my series are mostly going to be built around my goals for this year, I figured I should probably introduce what these are going to be.

I have some ‘major’ life goals that I want to achieve this year, and I also have some much smaller things I want to get done too.

  1. Buy a house
    So this is the biggest on our list for a number of reasons! It’s our first house purchase, so that in itself is massive, but also we are hoping to relocate to the Isle of Wight – which is a trek from our Essex life. Fingers crossed this time next year we will be settled in our new home, but we have a way to go yet!
  2. Prepare my body and mind for parenthood
    As I mentioned in my welcome post, this year is about preparing myself as much as I can (I know you can never fully be ready – this is just for my own health), for parenthood. I want to make sure I am as comfortable as I can be in my habits and routines before adding a child into the mix. We wont be trying at all this year, and probably not for most of next year, so we have plenty of time, but what better time to start getting ready than in the middle of lockdown?
  3. Get back into exercise I enjoy
    This is part of the ‘getting myself ready for parenthood’, a couple of years ago I was going to a boxing PT twice a week, I was the fittest I had ever been. Unfortunately, funds, stress, a pandemic, (and the fridge) have all undone all of the hard work I put into my body. It’s time for me to get back into it and start enjoying myself again, and being proud of what my body can do.
  4. Start to make steps towards living more sustainably
    I know this is going to take me some time to get into some decent habits, I am very late to this game and a complete newbie. My plan for this year is to just start thinking about what I am doing for the environment one step at a time, and starting to make small changes to my lifestyle for the better.
  5. Get back into reading books again
    This may be a pipedream with everything else going on above! When I was younger I absolutely loved reading, and I miss taking that time for myself. My definite goal is to read the Alexander Hamilton biography by Ron Chernow.
  6. Book our dream holiday to Walt Disney Florida
    This has been on our goal list for a while – Disney 2022 (COVID permitting – although to be fair all of the above is COVID permitting…) I was lucky enough to go several times as a child, however my husband who somehow loves Disney as much as me has never been. Hopefully we will be able to book this in the first half of 2021 so we have something to look forward to for next year!

My four main series I’m working on at the moment is: Sustainable Living, Women’s Health, and Planning for a family, and finally – looking back at planning our wedding in a pandemic.
